The HopeHealth Walk for Alzheimer’s has been a tradition for 23 years. Formerly called Miles of Memories, it is the principal fundraiser for Hope Dementia & Alzheimer’s Services. Thanks to the compassionate support of donors like you, Hope Dementia & Alzheimer’s Services is able to provide an array of programs and services to meet the needs of the community we serve. Programs include:
- • A telephone helpline
• CARES – educational support groups
• Respite grants
• Memory screenings
• Care management plans and family consultations
• Dementia certification for professionals
• Professional conferences on the latest dementia research
• Programs for family caregivers, community members and agencies
Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and the fifth leading cause of death for those 65 and older. One in nine people age 65 and older has Alzheimer’s disease. Nearly one in three seniors who dies each year has Alzheimer’s or another dementia. There are more than 325,000 unpaid caregivers caring for someone with Alzheimer’s in Massachusetts.
About the WalkThe three-mile HopeHealth Walk for Alzheimer’s begins at Buzzards Bay Park at the Cape Cod Canal. Registration is at 9:00 am, with the Walk starting at 10:00 a.m.
